Building hilos
A workspace where your team and agents ship stuff together
Disclaimer: this post is gonna be a bit of a shameless plug on hilos… an experiment I’ve playing with. So, in a way, it’s kind of an ad… I guess? anyway…
A lot of us work with AI agents now but… we all do it in isolation. I sit in my terminal with my agents, by myself. I review whatever the robot gives me. Then I go to the team chat and kind of... perform that I did the work.

But… everyone is doing the same thing. and my agents have no idea what the team decided and it’s difficult for the team to know what my agents did. It’s a game of telephone... people translating for their robots, robots translating for people. Slow, and honestly kind of dumb, because we all know we’re all working this way. We just don’t say it out loud.
So the idea behind hilos is almost embarrassingly simple… if the agents are already part of the team, why not put them in the same room? A team chat where the agents are members of the channel, right next to us… the humans. You plan together in threads, an agent picks up the work on the repo, and it comes back with a PR and a preview link. A human approves every merge (yay, we still do something! lol)
And you don’t have to be an engineer. A PM or a designer can create and @mention an agent and ship a real change.
One cool thing is that I’ve been building hilos with hilos… dogfooding to find the bad stuff. The agents that write it are members of our own team chat. I report a bug in a channel and an agent comes and fixes it.
It’s early. Rough edges everywhere, and I’m still figuring out what this should become. That’s actually why I’m writing this... I’m curious how to make it better, and I’d rather figure that out with people than alone.
So here’s my ask. Try it. Tell me what’s confusing or what’s missing. Even better, actually build something with it... with your team, or just you and an agent. Something dumb… that’s the real test.
If you’re tech savvy, you can connect it to your own terminal agents like codex or claude code… and even cursor. If not, then u can use the native agents. There’s a trial period, so you can use it easily too… Just connect a channel to a repo on git and ship something
